Rebirth was another of Darkthief's suggestions and hopefully he's around for it this time too. It's on Ty's servers so people could play it anytime but generally they tend not to
It's a megawad from 2003 which feels very much like classic Doom2 albiet with a couple of sprite replacements. They are very well done too and make up for the usual blandness of the cannon fodder troopers and the let down of having barons look just like hellknights.
The maps are perhaps reminiscent of Requiem, with nothing too huge in here. So let's have some reqmus to go with that and just because we never use it on ZDS then it's gonna be the original skins.wad this time around.
Game Mode: Co-op
WADs: rebirth1
reqmus
skins
Maps: 32 (01-32)
DMFLAGS: 81956 / 1474240
Skill: 3 - Ultraviolence
Timelimit: No
Players: 8 (+2 spectator slots)
Voting: Kick + skip
Other: Reset map on empty server
Date: Saturday 11th April
Time: 7:30pm UK Time / 9:00 pm EST
Location: L@P / [TotalTrash]/Unfy
Hopefully it'll be a bit better organised on the Euro side this week |

'the squirt'? You're suffering with diarrhoea? Thanks but we didn't need to know that
The good news is we seem to have accrued a Texan NODE-3 server. Cya there in 30! |

yes, in reference to a 6yo kid
my first weekend i've had him in .... 3 or 4 months probably.
it's been a smashing success... despite some bodily harm
i went for a layup in an indoor basketball court that had six hoops - the hoop i chose was one of the ones on the side... that had bleachers under it. I totally forgot about the bleachers. Crash boom, fucked up shins and knees drew blood, totally hilarious. I made the layup though
playing tag with the squirt and lots of other kids in the park, was climbing up a non-flimsy fake rope ladder and squirt went to kick me in the chest to knock me down, but missed and tagged my cheek/eye instead. needless to say I was done playing tag . Headache is finally starting to go away (3-4hours later), and vision is just about clear again . We'll see tomorrow if he gave me a black eye or not heh. |

Holy shit, you used more smileys than even I usually manage! And yeah I was just 'kid'ding about you having the runs
But wtf? Go offtopic much?!
You didn't even post any screenshots of your 'session'!!
Ok so I don't know what was going on with NODE-3 but the elastic player limit was not a good thing. Rontard had already (quite rightly) expressed concern to me that the maps would suck with eight players, let alone any more.
Between the insane number of people in the server and the massive lag I was getting then I opted to jump ship back to the L@P server. Myself, Jad, Cupboard and several random strangers carried on the good fight there. And it was a damn good fight
Really excellent maps here although I kept rushing forward too many times when I was sure I'd got a killshot only to make a twat of myself as I'd forgotten (yet again) that I'd doubled the monster strength
Hatred and a few others seemed to be carrying on with the US side of things so it was cool we had both servers. Thanks NODE! |

Not a bad session! There were lots of doomers on the initial server, which really made it a pain to play on, though. I think I went to the Greek server with Cybershark and Jad joined in a tad later. The wad was really a lot of fun with three or four people. The maps' design was pleasantly basic with not a lot of cluttering details. I think I got to map20 or somewhere around there.
That wad gave me some ideas for some of my own projects. The city maps were pretty sweet with all of the buildings and cyberdemon fights. >:> |
