Some of you might not be familiar about what is going on over at zdoom recently. I found this project, QZDoom especially interesting. It aims to provide 32 bit software rendering. While still in early stage, I really welcome it as an alternative to openGL.
Some hints of what it can (or will be able to, later on) do :
-smooth gradient lightning
-truecolor translation (u can see it for yourself if you change player color ingame)
-truecolor textures
-possibility of "dynamic lights"

Looks good,
But getting it on ZDaemon would reguire big programming efforts,
Like we need to update a lot of internals + texture manager to handle it :/
I wish to have what odamex has at least...
We tried to backport sprite-movement-interpolation and found it impossible to do so. (on 1.06). Even though it look basic. It takes thousands of lines sometimes |
