After hours of discussion with Gyross, Intox and Modenese, I decided to dedicate a topic for the sake of current and upcoming tournaments.

So, basically the thread consist of collecting every possible stats, such as scores, individual stats, demos, and thus do a ranking at the end or each tournaments using a system similar to Elo.

1 - Elo rating, tiers, points, etc :

Player ratings will be done using a very simple points system based upon the quality of the tournament, the number of rounds (single elimination, BO3, BO5...) and the player Tier.

Each player / contestant will be placed into the corresponding tier based on their "universal" skill. The points you've earned wiml not help you get into an upper Division, so when a player get promoted to a higher Tier, or relegated to a lower one, it will be decided once deemed necessary and using common sense.

There will be in total 4 Tiers.

Here's how points will be given :

Tier 4 = 1 Point
Tier 3 = 2 Points
Tier 2 = 3 Points
Tier 1 = 5 Points

And here's how points will be taken away when a player from higher Tier loses to a lower tier player :

Code:
        Tier 1   Tier 2   Tier 3   Tier 4
Tier 4     -5        -3       -2     -1
Tier 3     -3        -2       -1      0
Tier 2     -2        -1        0      0
Tier 1     -1         0        0      0

Btw, every player will initially have 1000 starting points.

So, to sum' up :

1) You're in Tier 3, you win 2 points if you beat another Tier 3 player, but you win 3 points if you beat a Tier 2 player, and 5 if you beat a Tier 1 player.
2) You only lose points if you lose to a player in the same tier or lower.
3) If a player ties between a player of the same tier (league case), no points will be handed out to both, if the player involved is from neighbor tiers, 1 point will be handed out to the weaker player and -1 point to the stronger team.

Note: the fact that there is a Tier system will help tournament organizers organize rounds better.

2- Tournament format :

Single Elimination, BO3, BO5, etc...

We all know how rude it can be when you play your round 1 game against another Tier 1 player and being eliminated in a Single Elimination can be really annoying, here's why the amount of points that a player wins will mostly depends on the tourney format. For this we will be using a coefficient multiplier, check the following :

A single elimination win is coefficient X1;
A double eliminations (2 wins) win is coefficient X2;
A best-of-3 (or more) win is coefficient X3;

You got the point; winning a BO3 game will give to you 3 times more points, therefore the maximum number of points you can win in a match is 15, if you beat a Tier 1 player of course (5x3).

Those eliminated from the tournament will have nothing more to lose, so if you lose a BO3 final or a single elimination game in the first round, nothing will change, the only points you'll be losing are those of your particular game (see Chapter 2, Tier part).

3- Forfeit :

Know that a forfeit does not only ban surrenders from upcoming tournaments, their Elo points are also penalized, see how it works :

Forfeiting a 32th and 16th-finals game takes away 5 points;
Forfeiting a 8th-finals game takes away 10 points;
Forfeiting a quarterfinal game takes away 15 points;
Forfeiting a semifinal game takes away 20 points;
Forfeiting a final game takes away 25 points;

Remember to always play your game!

4- Storing stats, demos, precautions

Please bare in mind that statistics may be collected manually since I am not using stats parsing script, therefore to help us ease our work, it would be better -- for you, as for us -- you do not forget to take a screenshot and record a demo.

So basically I'll be collecting frags, deaths, games played, minutes played, wins, losses, K/D related stats, and more, then posting them in the thread once a tournament ended.

Note that some infos are subject to change...

Well, ask your 2014 skills Rolling Eyes

In fact, while collecting those stats I did consider you a Tier 1 player from past tournaments but as of this year, not anymore.
This may be my opinion but as stated by yourself, you did not play any duel or tournament for about a year (apart from the fact that you've played a round in the Judas tourney), and I hardly see that person still competing in Tier 1.

I know it is your right to have a life and play Doom as many times as you wish, but meanwhile you may have lost some skills, as stated by yourself again.

Beside that, trying to balance points as fair as possible is a difficult task Exclamation

Then you can give me tier 2 when I actually play in a 2014 tourney, so I appear in the 2014 table with my tier 2 performances.

You gave me a lower mark in a table labeled 2011-2013 when I outperformed most of the players in the same table. And you gave Devisin and wabe tier 1 regardless of their fairly notable absence, so don't feed me bullshit, honey. Either present the results in an objective manner, or leave out the 2011-2013 results entirely, because you are misrepresenting data from my tourneys.

I would like to distance myself from these new tournaments, because I strongly disagree with karakurt's way of interpreting the 2011-2013 data. I'd like to be removed from that table, my results come from different times with different administrations and I don't want self-entitled newbies pass judgements about me or an era they weren't even part of.

EDIT: Alright, the issue has been amended, so I'm going to call off my attack hounds. Thank you for that.
