VOXELS!

no need to change the animation systems. Only change the rendering to see voxel models instead of sprites.

Voxels are great.

More on this idea.

There should be one voxel model for each animation frame.

I think that the sprite renderer can be isolated and populate the image area with a rendering of the voxel model. This way this won't interfere with the other parts and i will still be possible to use the old system. Even more, voxel models could be compiled and 'downgraded to sprites' via an external tool, so it could be possible to have cool skins with a few voxel models, and have old schoolers to keep using sprites if they don't want voxels.

And think of all the possibilities on shading using voxels!!!

I'm sure that veeeeeery powerful cpu's are needed for that, but hey, we even have software based 8x antialias now Very Happy (even my i7 struggles with this).

Also, a direction randomizer for sprites likes trees (based on thing ids) would be cool.

shinobi-cl, I think that we will need someone who knows how it works
(when u said that it is easy), and how much hacky it could be done in zdoom software render (which needs big <!> since zdaemon heavily improved tuh render by time).

Venom does work on rendering so far I know... I wish if he fixes the sky-bug, but so far he is the only one who knows i think
