I found some old DM maps on /idgames by a user named KILOWATT (Terry Duke) made in 1995/1996. 13 single files which I have compiled together, each containing a MIDI and a Demo. These seem pretty good for their age.

I hope you guys enjoy these maps, compiling them was just a fun way to kill an hour. Of course, the author gives permission to do this. We should give these a shot online some time! Very Happy

EDIT: Here are a few more oldschool WADs!

Melee Deathmatch by Jeremy Statz. These maps were made in 1995/1996, they seem like they would be great for about 4 players. 9 maps are present in this pack.

Compilation Deathmatch by Mark Anderson, Andrew "Dman" Orman, MIDIguy, Stealth, Rob Oshiro and Alissa Colby. 12 nice maps here all in different oldschool styles by a variety of authors.

Since he allows people to re-use the maps in any way, I'm considering detailing these up and resubmitting them to /idgames. Im a bit dry for ideas at the moment and I think this could offer some inspiration Smile

Hey again, just updated the thread - I have a lot of fun doing these old WAD compilations, I might make it a somewhat regular thing if I can find enough oldschool material that allows reuse/distribution Cool

As long as you're having fun doing it.

It's a neat way to rescue certain single map pwads from complete obscurity.

The next mapset I'm posting is by an old Dwango user by the name "Timer". Here are 7 maps he created, I'd say this is the best compilation on this thread.

Screenshots:

The first 4 maps are really small and the other 3 would be great for a lot of players.

Enjoy!

A doomworld user by the name Joe667 pointed out a few old wads to me which are included in this file: http://www.wad-archive.com/wad/4bfee98407b19c6a80fa75b59da986e4

It's called LBDWANGO, and it feels sorta like the "lost levels" of the dwango wad series. This is a 50/50 mix of good and bad deathmatch arenas.

Here are some DM videos from 1996 for a preview (thanks meshuggah360!)

Very very oldstyle DM stuff, a very interesting find from Joe667!

Also, do any of you guys know what deathtag is? I've seen many deathtag maps over the years, but never really grasped the concept of the gamemode. I'm sure that if it was really great, it would have been officially incorporated as a gamemode in the Z ports. Can anyone explain the rules to me? I've looked them up online and still don't get it.. Embarassed

I'd love it if someone hosted that TIMER_DM wad on a server. I plan to as soon as I switch back to wired from WiFi, but I'd love to test them out with real players before then Smile

Anyhoo, heres some more compilation stuff!

I called this one "RandoMatch". Created by Outlander, Reviver, Diego Garcia Lopez, Carlos Irigaray, Kimberley van Amerongen, Michael R. Cullen, Phil Mcewen, J. Callum and T. Ashdown.

SCREENS:

The first four maps are damn fun, 5 and 6 are a bit larger for slow paced strategic yadda yadda. You know the drill. Someone play these with me online con sarnit!
