Confirmed with Krawa - we tried doom e1m8 > e2m1/2 new episode start; and doom2 end of maplist map32 > map01.

Nice find. I noticed it more and more in FFA with people using RL. (Reset my cfg so trails were back on). Explains why it appears to be new. I would have never thought to try capped fps again, tsk.
